About the Artist
Hello there!
My name is Lauren Morris. I am an up and coming Model Horse Artist. I want to specialize in smaller scale Horses. If you haven't already read the main page, I really want to create Micros/SM/LB that will stand up to the big artist resins of today. Right now, I work mainly in acrylic, and pastels, however I am looking into Oils and airbrushing. Attention to detail, and vibrant coat colors are my specialty!
I am an Army Wife, and I have one child, my dog Boo. :D yep, he is such a little crazy thing! I am so blessed to have a loving husband that lets me paint horses like a crazy person! I even drag the poor dear to shows! :) I currently live in Georgia, and greatly miss my home state of Texas. Region 5 was such a great place to show! So many of them, and they were filled with great people. One of these days ill get back there!
Whats up with the Goldfish? Well, I am also a big fan of Ranchu Goldfish. I have had several! I love my goldfish just as much -if not more- than micros, so i decided to name my new stable after these amazing fish! Below is a picture of Dunphy, my lovable, fat, and VERY happy Rnachu. He passed in November of 2012, and is the inspiration and theme of my stable. Currently, I am raising Barbs, but i do miss my fat and happy goldfish! One of these days when I have a house and multiple tanks, I will get more of these awesome creatures!

The "Original Stable"
Back when Lindsey my sister and I were in High School, we couldn't have a real horse, so we took up the Model Horse Hobby. Our Stable was HUGE! We had so many horses, and many of them NAN qualifiers from some of the best artists of the day. DeAnn Kjelshus, Chris Jolly, Cathy Wallden, and Thomas Bainbridge were a few of the artists we had work from. We had all types of resins and custom horses. My favorite was a Jumping Mule painted to a flashy pinto. As always, I was drawn to the Spanish breeds, Mules, and Drafters while my sister mostly went for Miniature Horses and Stock Horses. We stayed in the Traditional Scale for the vast majority of the horses we had with a few Breyer and Hagen Renaker OF horses. We didnt go to many shows, mostly because we didnt have a car, but we did do online photo shows.
One thing that I really like a bout model Horses is the simple fact that I loved to go to live shows. We didnt get to go to many, but the ones we did go to we came out quite well. This is a picture of one of our old models in a class where you set up a scene. All props were made by my sister minus the Doll. We mostly showed in Halter classes, with a few performance classes here and there. All of the extra props were made by my sister, she was really great about that stuff, and I helped where I could. The atmosphere at the shows were always good, as you could walk around and look at all the amazingly beautiful horses. Each horse like a real one, uniquely painted and very well mannered :) Unfortunately we had to leave the hobby for college, and all the horses we had were sold off. I wish we had kept them.
